Guruvarya Pt. Rambhau Bijapure accompanied Harmonium from Ustad Abdul Karim Khan Saheb to nearly five generations of Hindustani Classical Vocalists  & trained around fifteen thousand students in his lifetime.

Also Rev.  Master lived a benevolent life without seeking for support from institutions or the government and lead a selfless journey.

Bijapure Harmonium Foundation is named after the legendary Harmonium Maestro 

Guruvarya Pandit Ramabhau Bijapure who belonged to a rare class of musicians is established in the year 2003 amidst his presence.

Being son of a school master and kannada play write, Sri Kallopant Bijapure, Pandit Rambhau took musical lessons from the great master of those days, such as Vid. Hannikeri Mallayya, Pandit Ramakrishna Buva Vaze, Pandit Shivarambhuva Vaza and Pandit Kagalkar Buva.

Herein referred to as "Maastar" accompanied five generations of vocalists of the country including Ustad Abdul Karim Khan Saheb and accompanied all-time great artists include Bharat Ratna Pandit Bhimsen Joshi, Padma Vibhooshan Dr. Gangubai Hangal, Pandit Mallikarjun Mansur, Pandit Basavaraj Rajguru, Pandit Kumar Gandharva, Pandit Vasantrao Deshpande and others.

Guruvarya Pandit Ramabhau Bijapure has selflessly taught music over a period of 76 years to more than 15000 students, single handedly without any government support, public contribution or any collaboration. 

Guruji selflessly carried out the penance of Indian Musical tradition without seeking for any name or fame and taught the poor, underprivileged and handicapped students for free.

Through exploring a very unique profile and dimensions of playing Harmonium in Hindustani Classical Music his accomplishments resulted in having a far-reaching effect over bridging the cultures of East & the West. 

 

His contributions were recognized by various institutions and agencies and notably to mention the Government of Karnataka conferred him with the title " Karnataka Kala Tilaka " and Chowdiah Memorial Award. Among many other prestigious titles, he was also conferred with the title " Maha Mahopaadhyaya " by Gandharva Mahavidyalaya.  

Alongside the efforts of stalwarts such as Pandit Govind Rao Tembe, Pandit Vitthal Rao Koregoankar , Pandit Manohar Chimotte, Pandit Appa Jalagaonkar, Pandit Vishwanath Pendarkar, Pandit Purushottam Walawalkar, Pandit Vasanth Kanakapur, Pandit Hanumanth Rao Walvekar & Pandit Tulasidas Borkar

 cannot be forgotten in this journey.
